It’s easy to be cynical, mean and pessimistic. Negativity is the easiest of emotions to slip into and it comes with a sense of superiority. Pessimism can make you feel smarter than everyone around you and that’s why so many people like it. After all, why would you want to think that everything is sunshine and rainbows when the alternative makes you feel superior? But as Oswald Chambers said, “The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity; the optimist opportunity in every difficulty.” So, who do you want to be?
What person you are?
It is easy in our days to fall into negativity and pessimism. Especially looking at all the so exaggerated news about everything that increases the level of stress and fear in people. Watching or even just hearing others talking about any of the dangerous events impact our mood. Are you aware of that? I know that some level of information is needed. But honestly, the things that are fed to us recently are created to close us into mental jail of fear, uncertainty and anxiety.
Unless you are a person who does not take in all, that info-trash and always focuses on positive aspects. Is this actually possible? To focus on the good aspects of life? Of good aspects of the world. Looking at the news it seems as if not. It might be even very downhearting, close to impossible. However, I would like you to think. Is it really? Is it really so difficult or even impossible? Or maybe there is a way to shift your perspective? To learn and finally see goodness and positivity in the world?
You might say, that, sure you might look at good things but there is very little of them around. And actually, looking for them makes you kind of a dreamer if not a lunatic. Being positive doesn’t mean you can’t acknowledge the bad things that happen. You don’t have to pretend that bad situations don’t exist or that you’re not scared by what’s coming. But it does mean that you actively look for the good when things get difficult and you don’t let yourself get trapped in the bad.
Why could you want to change?
It’s not always easy to be optimistic, positive and kind, but it’s worth the effort. You have the power to change your life and the world around you by actively choosing to see the good in everything. So why not be the one who chooses to see good in everything? This way you will notice many amazing things happening in your life. Seeing and doing good might look like a challenge. It might feel this way at the beginning. Yet, I dare you to try and see what kind of impact it will have on you and your life.
I understand, that it’s not easy to be kind to those who are unkind to you, but it’s something that is truly appreciated. It’s easy to be kind to those who are kind to you. It’s even easy to be kind to those who are unkind to you just sometimes. Being kind to those who are consistently unkind to you, however, is quite a challenge. You might wonder why would you or should you be nice to someone like that.
If you’re only willing to see the bad in everything then you’re not really seeing things as they are. You’re actively choosing to filter out the good and stay trapped in negativity. Pessimism is a choice — and it’s a choice that only serves to keep you trapped in a negative mindset. You might feel smarter for it, but you’re not accomplishing much else. What would happen if you instead, will try actively choosing to see the good in everything?
How can you see positivity in everything?
One of the ways to break out of your channel of negative thinking is to actively choose to see the good. The good in the people around you, in your circumstances, in the situations you’re facing and even in the bad things that happen. You can actively choose to be the change in the world that you want to see by striving to be kind to everyone, even those who, in your opinion, don’t deserve it.
Real positiveness is the choice to remain optimistic, even when you’re scared. The fear of failure is the single biggest reason why people don’t achieve what they want to in life, but you don’t have to let it rule you. Kindness has the power to change everything. It can turn even the worst situations into something positive and it can open the doors to everything you want to achieve. It’s not just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do. Kindness has the power to change people’s lives and the small, daily acts of kindness you do for others can change your life, too.
Grudges are a way of holding onto the bad that has happened in the past. They’re a way of refusing to let go and move on. They’re a way of keeping the bitterness of the past with you and letting it poison your mind. And while you’re keeping the bad with you, you’re depriving yourself of the good that could be in the present. Letting go of grudges doesn’t mean forgetting what happened, it doesn’t mean ignoring the bad and it doesn’t mean letting the other person get away with it. It means letting go of the grudge, removing it from your life and refusing to let it take up space in your mind.
We discover in this short video what person you are and why you might want to be more optimistic in your life, as well as how can you do this by simply choosing what you want to focus on more.
